Letter from Professor Lee Shao huai of Taipei Medical University on Patakara Oral Training and Brain Function

Thank you for your letter. A brief reply is as follows:

The theoretical basis that oral training can improve brain function has also been confirmed in Japan's learning therapies for dementia. This is because the oral cavity, besides being related to the five senses (hearing, sight, smell, taste, touch), also has motor functions (feeding movements, respiratory movements, articulatory movements) that are highly connected to brain function, particularly the integrative function of the prefrontal cortex responsible for cognitive operation.

Since brain activity consumes energy and oxygen, which must be replenished through blood supplying nutrients and oxygen, an increase in blood circulation volume can therefore be used as an indicator suggesting enhanced brain activity.

The nerves controlling oral movements are more complex than those for the limbs. Strength training for limbs is a common rehabilitation task, which not only enhances muscular function but also improves neural operation in the brain. Currently, the effectiveness of Physical Therapy (PT) and Occupational Therapy (OT) is limited, especially for those who have lost motor function. Using devices to facilitate training can be more effective.

The above explanation may enhance users' understanding and knowledge of your company's product, the Patakara - "Oral Muscle Trainer," potentially promoting business opportunities, though this remains to be seen.
